Special Requirements

 

In order to join the Energy-Online Program it is necessary to have access to a computer (PC-type) and internet connection. The minimum computer requirements are listed below:

 

  • Operating system: Windows 98, 2000 (SP1), XP
  • Browser: Internet explorer 5.x, 6.x, or Netscape 4.5x, 4.7x, 7.x or equivalent
  • Processor: Pentium 350 MHz
  • Memory: 128 MB
  • Hard Disk: 1.0 GB free space
  • CD-rom
  • Network: 128 kbps
  • Monitor: 16 bit color, 800 pixels x 600 pixels
  • Sound card, headset (or loudspeakers and proper microphone)
  • Web camera

 

The online lecturing systems that will be used for lecturing the different courses offered in the Program are mainly CENTRA and MARRATECH. Both systems only require the presence of a client version on the local computer, where only a plug-in is installed. No software purchase of these programs is necessary. Also, CITRIX may be used to access the programs required to perform computer labs and assignments.

 

 

GENERAL SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

 

The basic computer software required by the program includes:

 

  • Internet browser (certain courses might required Internet Explorer as it is the one that supports better the educational tools used)
  • Email access every day
  • Software clients required by the program: Centra, Marratech and Citrix
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Microsoft office or compatible including a word processor, spreadsheet program and a presentation program
